AARUSH – Industrial Visit
At Dudhsagar Dairy
Coordinators: Dr. Krunal Joshi, Dr. Urvi Amin, and Prof. Vrushabh Solanki
Participants: Semester-II students (Batch 2023-25)
Objective of the Event: The industrial visit at Dudhsagar Dairy in Mehsana was an educational excursion aimed at providing students with practical insights into the functioning of a dairy industry helping them learn through experience and networking. The event involved a guided tour of the dairy facility, including its various departments such as milk processing, packaging, quality control, and distribution.
Outcome of the Event: The students learnt that the dairy industry operates on a vast scale, collecting approximately 23.5 million litters of milk daily from a network spanning 1,200 to 1,300 villages near the Mehsana District. This operation is not isolated. Similar scales of operation are seen across various districts, each with its own dairy infrastructure. The collection involves 130 certified village cooperatives, indicating a highly organized and cooperative-driven approach to milk collection. This system ensures a stable supply of raw milk to processing units while supporting the livelihoods of numerous rural households.
